The Parties to the Nauru Agreement Office (PNAO) is seeking to hire a VDS/VMS Officer. The VDS/VMS Officer will provide support to the VDS Team to ensure effective and efficient administration of the VDS and related activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Based on preliminary figures for April (and revised data for recent months), overall purse seine fishing effort declined as did fishing intensity (fishing days/calendar day) and with overall catch rate broadly steady, total catch declined as fleet concentration was heaviest towards the west against weakening El Nino conditions and imminent developing ENSO-neutral conditions.

The Office of the Parties to the Nauru Agreement invites suitably qualified and experienced people to submit a proposal to undertake an evaluation of the PNA Strategic Plan, in accordance with the attached Terms of Reference.

All prices in the proposal must be presented in US dollars (USD).

The proposal should include:

a) A cover letter outlining the proposed methodology and timeline for undertaking the work outlined in the ToR.

b) A CV of the consultant with background and relevant experience.

The PNA Observer Agency is inviting applications for the position of Observer Operations Coordinator. The role of the Operations Coordinator will be to assist the Observer Program Manager in the coordination of observer placements on vessels in the Western and Central Pacific region on FSMA and US Treaty licensed purse seine vessels, and other associated tasks involved with the logistics of observer placements.

a)    Using an Economic Model of vessel operations to provide advice to Parties on vessel profitability, vessel day pricing and fishery value.
b)    Providing information and analysis of the value of tuna fisheries to the Parties.
c)    Analysing information on tuna trade.
d)    Providing advice on economic issues of tuna fisheries to the Parties and the PNAO.
