Majuro, May 20, 2026 — The PNA Office this week announced the winners of the World Tuna Day Competition., This year’s theme, “Sustaining Tuna, Sustaining Nations,” drew entries across four categories namely Art and Craft, Music and Video, Photography and Literature. The annual event drew an impressive range of entries, showcasing the region’s talent and the deep cultural and economic connection with tuna.
This year’s competition featured categories in Art & Craft, Music & Video, Photography, and Literature across multiple age groups. Organizers praised the outstanding quality of submissions, noting that participants demonstrated artistic excellence and delivered strong messages about sustainability, conservation, and the future of tuna resources.
CEO of the PNA Office, Dr. Sangaalofa Clark, congratulated each winner personally, recognizing their hard work and the excellence of their submissions.

Literature (Teens 13–17)
- 1st: Zelda Vatobesi Mebupe — “If Tuna Disappeared Tomorrow”
Literature (Adults)
- 1st: Charlene Mark — “Where the Tide Sustains the Nation”
- 2nd: Oscar Ragus — “Marshall Islands Tuna for Marshallese”
- 3rd: Aisan Navales — “Three-Piece Literature Entry”
The competition highlighted how tuna continues to inspire storytelling, art, and expression across generations. From vivid artwork to compelling written pieces, participants captured the essence of tuna as both a lifeline for economies and a symbol of identity and heritage.
