PNA Director Dr Transform Aqorau has been nominated and selected to join a select panel on oceans.

Over the past months, more than 100 ocean partners from around the world, including governments, international organizations, civil society groups, and for-profit companies were polled to identify global leaders with the capacity to reinforce and develop the future direction of the global partnership. The PNA Director was put forward as a suitable expert representing his experience and the many achievements of the PNA, managers of the world's largest sustainable tuna purse seine fishery.

The Global Partnership for Oceans works to develop sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, coastal and marine habitat conservation and pollution reduction, taking into consideration climate change and acidification. A new GPO fund, together with existing and new finance and expertise from partners, operates within the current global governance framework set by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
