PNA expresses condolences regarding Nauru Fisheries Minister
Parties to the Nauru Agreement members offered their heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Nauru Fisheries Minister Valdon Dowiyogo, who passed away unexpectedly yesterday while on an official visit to Russia.
The 13-year veteran of Nauru’s Parliament was Speaker from 2005-2013 before accepting a Cabinet post in the administration of President Baron Waqa. He held the Fisheries, Health, Transport and Sports portfolios. The son of former Nauru President Bernard Dowiyogo, he was 48.
“Minister Dowiyogo actively participated in our PNA meetings and discussions after taking on the Fisheries post,” said PNA CEO Ludwig Kumoru. “He was a valued colleague and friend, and his passing is a loss to both his country and the PNA. On behalf of our members, I wish to express our sadness at his unexpected passing and condolences to the late Minister’s family.”
